Elderly woman dead, man raced to hospital after neighbour’s shock discovery on the Gold Coast

A shocked neighbour alerted emergency services after finding an elderly couple lying motionless in their Gold Coast house.

Police were called to a house on Gerona Circuit in Varsity Lakes around 1.30pm Tuesday for a welfare check.

They found the woman dead at the scene.

Her partner was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Both the elderly man and woman are in their 80s.

A crime scene has been established at the house.

Queensland Police confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au the sudden death is being investigated.
